Fear and Faith

These were seasoned pros, these were men used to living outside in the dead of night and the dead of winter, these were men hardened by the elements and used to fighting off wolves, bears and lions. So when an angel appears to them and they are said to be “greatly afraid” we can assume that this was no sweet little child from a nativity play. Yet through their fear they displayed great faith. They didn’t say “let’s go and see if what this angel has said checks out”, they said “let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that HAS come to pass”. Lord give us this kind of faith, a faith that works despite of fear. Help us to believe as these shepherds did. Help us to go and then to tell all what God has done.
