I can listen without hearing
I can look without seeing
But I cannot love without responding

I can read without understanding
I can travel without getting anywhere
But I cannot care without it hurting
I cannot have compassion without it costing

I can touch without feeling
I can speak without saying anything
But I cannot hope without praying
